[Last Updated: Feb. 8, 5:20 p.m.] Residents are getting ready to hunker down to wait out the snow after Essex County declared a state of emergency. Cedar Grove Mayor Peter Tanella is urging people to stay safe by avoiding any unneccesary travel. "The DPW hit the roads early this morning and are working around the clock to maintain the roads," he said Friday evening. The township has plenty of salt stockpiled and plows will continue throughout the storm, he added. Tanella is also telling residents to call the Cedar Grove Police Department in case of emergencies but has offered his own cell phone number for residents with questions or comments.
