Verona Holds 10th Annual Talent Show

Spotlight Players Parents Association (SPPA) hosts Verona talent show with talented young performers.

On Saturday, January 5, the Spotlight Players Parents Association (SPPA) held its 10th Annual Talent Show in the Verona High School Auditorium. The night featured extremely talented township youngsters who performed outstanding pieces for the crowd.

Last Day to Register for Verona Talent Show

January 3 is the application deadline to register for Verona's 10th Annual Talent Night.

Last call for talented Verona performers! Thursday, January 3 is the deadline to register for the 10th Annual Verona Talent Night. The annual talent show, sponsored by the Spotlight Players Parents Association (SPPA), will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 5 in the Verona High School Auditorium. “We need singers, dancers, musicians, stand-up comedy, funny skits, serious monologues or even an animal act,” the SPPA said in a written statement. The acts must be between two to four minutes and must be easy to set up. An optional run-through will be held the same day from 2 to 4 p.m. An application fee for registration costs $10 per act. 'America's Got Talent' Experience Gets Thumbs Up

Patch editors score tickets to live taping of 'America's Got Talent' at New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark – and they liked what they saw

Even despite my inherent love as a reporter for the occasional happy, heart-wrenching human-interest story, I was skeptical of what I was about to sit through Tuesday night during a live taping of "America's Got Talent." A miniature mariachi singer belting out a love ballad? Muscular men clogging in tight jeans in front of a massive American flag? Tiny dancers cartwheeling in nauseating succession? For two full hours? This was not the Newark I knew. This was some alternate universe. Verona's Got Talent!

VHS students entertain with music, comedy, and more.

An audience of 150 people filled the VHS auditorium Wednesday night to enjoy an evening of entertainment provided by the school's students as part of the class of 2011's Project Graduation fundraising efforts.  Masters of Ceremony Alex Sniatkowski and Canberk Oguz kept things moving with a presentation style they said before the show that would "channel Steve Martin and Drew Carey." They especially did during an unplanned moment, when an act wasn't ready to come on stage, providing laughs at Charlie Sheen's expense. Holly Denton of Music Together assisted in putting the program together and as needed during the show.
