On Saturday, January 19th, approximately fifty 4th and 5th graders participated in the annual Spelling Bee competition held at Verona High School. The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona would like to thank all the children who participated and congratulate our winners. Congratulations to Veronica Domyslawski, 3rd place (Our Lady of the Lake School), Max Handler, 2nd place (H.B. Whitehorne) and Jessica Sidrak, 1st place H.B. Whitehorne). The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona is a versatile organization that has been involved in social and charitable work since its inception in 1926. Jessica Sidrak, 10 of H.B. Whitehorne Middle School won the Verona Spelling Bee with the word "territory."
Jessica Sidrak, 10 of H.B. Whitehorne Middle School expertly spelled "territory" to win the Verona Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Junior Women's Club of Verona. Seventy-four students from Brookdale Avenue School, F.N. Brown School, Forest Avenue Elementary School, Laning Avenue School andOur Lady of the Lake School participated in the competition. Max Handler, 10 of H.B. Whitehorne came in second place and Veronica Eomyslawski, 10 of Our Lady of the Lake School came in third. The judges were Verona Deputy Mayor Bob Manley, Senior Librarian Bill Trafton, and Forest Ave. Principal Jeffrey Monacelli, who has participated as a Spelling Bee judge for the past five years.

Verona fourth and fifth graders will compete in the annual event hosted by the Verona Juniors.
Expert fourth and fifth grade spellers will face off in Verona on Saturday for the annual Spelling Bee competition sponsored by the Junior Women's Club of Verona. Seventy-four students from Brookdale Avenue School, F.N. Brown School, Forest Avenue Elementary School, Laning Avenue School and Our Lady of the Lake School will be participating. The competition begins at 9 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 at Verona High School, 151 Fairview Ave. Judges will include Verona Deputy Mayor Bob Manley, Senior Librarian Bill Trafton, and Forest Ave. Principal Jeffrey Monacelli, who has participated as a Spelling Bee judge for the past five years. The Junior Women's Cub of Verona will be accepting registration forms until Dec. 21. No late entries will be accepted.
The Junior Women's Club of Verona is now accepting registration for its annual Spelling Bee Competition for all fourth and fifth grade Verona students. “Registration forms must be returned to his or her teacher by December 21, 2012,” the Verona Juniors stressed. “No late entries will be accepted.” A practice list and rules will be given out to participating students after the winter break. Registration forms can be obtained from Verona fourth and fifth grade teachers or printed out on the Junior Woman’s Club website. The Spelling Bee will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 19 in the Verona High School auditorium, located at 151 Fairview Ave.
