Spin For Life Raises Money For Verona Child With Fatal Disease

Two Spin for Life Spin-A-Thons will be held to raise money for the Progeria Research Foundation, which aims to raise money and awareness for a fatal rapid-aging disease.

Team Zoey and the Progeria Research Foundation will be holding its third annual “Spin for Life indoor Spin-A-Thon” to raise money and awareness for progeria, a fatal rapid-aging disease, where children die at an average age of 13 from heart disease. Team Zoey is a chapter of the Progeria Research Foundation, which seeks to develop treatments and find a cure for the progeria, a disease that causes rapid aging at about seven to 10 times the normal rate in children. Zoey Penny was diagnosis at the age of five months and her family has been working to find a cure ever since. Team Zoey hosts annual walks, runs and fundraising events. Runners Raise Money for Zoey

'Miles of Hope' Turkey Trot held at Verona Park Saturday to raise money for Zoey Penny, who suffers from Progenia, a disease causing rapid aging in children.

The annual “Miles of Hope” Turkey Trot returned to Verona Park on Saturday, Nov. 24 to raise money for a Verona child suffering from a rare, fatal disease.  Team Zoey is a chapter of the Progeria Research Foundation, which seeks to develop treatments and find a cure for the progeria, a disease that causes rapid aging at about seven to 10 times the normal rate in children. Community Comes Out To Support Team Zoey

Team Zoey Carnival helps Verona child with rare, fatal disease.

Under blue skies and warm weather Saturday, Verona residents came out in full force to raise funds at a carnival to support a Verona child suffering from a rare, fatal disease. The carnival, held at the Calvary Lutheran Church of Verona, helped raise funds for 2½-year-old Zoey Penny, a local child fighting Progeria, a little-known disease that causes rapid aging at about seven to 10 times the normal rate in children. The Team Zoey Carnival was organized to help Penny, who received the diagnosis at the age of five months. Her family has been working to find a cure since that time.
