Essex Photo Club Presents 'Top 10 Tips and Tricks for Better Photos'

Free lecture offered at Caldwell Public Library before reception for Essex Photo Club's annual group show.

Did you get a fancy camera for Christmas and don't know how to use it? Want to take better photos with your iPhone? The Essex Photo Club will present award-winning photographer Nath Kaplan discussing "Top 10 Tips and Tricks for Better Photos!" at the Caldwell Public Library on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 p.m.­­ “Photography is more popular than ever and many people would like to get better at it, but lack the time,” Kaplan stated in a release from the Essex Photo Club. Kaplan will share strategies everyone can use to take better photographs, whether it be with an SLR, point-and-shoot or cell phone camera. Photographer Captures Life's Events, Memories

Verona photographer explains changes in the business over 25 years.

For 25 years Gabelli Studio and its photographers have been capturing some of the most significant moments in the lives of people in and around Verona. From their first location on Bloomfield Avenue to their current location at 250 Pompton Turnpike, Gabelli boasts an impressive portfolio and a small town, boutique atmosphere that keeps people coming back. Photographer and studio manager Jim Beckner has worked with Gabelli for years, through the tenure of the studio’s founder Gene Gabelli to the current ownership of John C. Bacolo. Beckner, 54, began work as a professional photographer in the late ‘70s, doing commercial photography and portraits, and he started working weddings, bar mitzvahs and other events regularly in the mid ‘80s.
