Queen Tribute Concerts Rock James Caldwell High School (Photos)

School of Rock Montclair students, including Verona's Nicky Kast, put on two shows with proceeds going to Music & More Booster Club.

More than two dozen musicians from School of Rock Montclair performed Queen's greatest hits at James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell this weekend. Guitartist Nicky Kast, 14 of Verona donned Freddie Mercury's signature white pants and mustache for his performance. Some 300 people attended the two shows held on Saturday and Sunday night in the high school's Center for Performing Arts. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the school's Music & More Booster Club. A representative from School of Rock Montclair said $2,000 was raised for the booster club. The musicians ranged in age from 7 to 17 and performed timeless hits, such as “Another One Bites the Dust,” “We Are the Champions,” “We Will Rock You,” “Somebody to Love” and “…

Plenty of activities to keep you busy on this first weekend of 2013.

Sunday, 10 a.m. 760 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove Free  Take time once a month for an hour  to explore the rich tapestry of Jewish Life with your toddler through song, dance, crafts, holiday foods, games and Hewbrew Language.  You and your child will laugh, learn and love your time together.  Each session will focus on a different Jewish Holiday and is led by Suzy Rosenberg, an experienced pre-school teacher.  Friday, 1 p.m. Verona Community Center Annex 880 Bloomfield Ave., Verona Free  Drop in on FRIDAYS from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to play or to socialize.
