Residents Donate Generators to Verona Township

Local Verona business owners, Don Smartt and George and Kathy Anderson donated seven generators to the township of Verona and were recognized for their contribution during Superstorm Sandy.

Local Verona business owners, Don Smartt and George and Kathy Anderson were publicly recognized for their donation of seven generators to the Township of Verona during Monday night's council meeting. “We know that times like Hurricane Sandy challenge us all and we are in a position to help extend the services you give to the people of this community,” Smartt told the council during the meeting. Cedar Grove Council Looks to Acquire Generators

The Cedar Grove Township Council will purchase generators to keep township buildings running in case of a power outage.

  Municipalities around New Jersey learned a valuable lesson from last month’s encounter with Hurricane Sandy — be prepared because when a once-in-a-lifetime storm strikes, it’s too late to start planning. With memories of Sandy still fresh, the Cedar Grove Township Council is looking to acquire some new generators for township buildings in case extreme weather like Sandy shuts down power in the town. At its Dec. 3 public meeting, the council approved a pending bond ordinance on first reading for generators at each of its three firehouses, town hall and the library.
