Verona, Cedar Grove Walgreens, CVS offering vaccine while supplies last.

The past week has been no kinder to New Jersey residents suffering from the sniffles, cough and chills of the flu, state officials say, and has led to the death of a fourth child, according to an NJ.com report. A 12-year-old Bergen County girl died earlier this month, Dawn Thomas, a state Health Department spokeswoman said. The current flu season continues to be one of the worst flu seasons in recent history, state Health Department officials say. But there is help out there for Verona and Cedar Grove residents who want to protect themselves by getting a flu shot. The state Department of Health has added a Find a Flu Shot Locator to its website. Call ahead to make sure supplies haven't run out first.

Verona Police Urge Residents to Get Flu Vaccine

The Verona Police Department reminds residents to get a flu shot due to increased reports of the flu.

Verona Police Department issued the following message through the NIXLE Alert System: Due to the increase and severity of Influenza (flu) cases being reported, we are sending out this reminder that Flu vaccines are recommended by the US Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). The flu season runs through March, so it is not too late to receive the immunization.  Adults should contact their physicians with any questions, and to see if they administer the vaccine. If needed, vaccine is available on the first and third Monday of the month from 9 a.m. – 12 noon at the Montclair Health Dept. (973-509-4980). Vaccines are also available at many local pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens, etc).  For children, parents should contact their pediatrician …

Get a Flu Shot in Verona, Cedar Grove

Flu season typically begins in October and can run through May. Find out what you need to know to protect yourself and your family.

With the arrival of flu season, many stores and pharmacies in Verona and Cedar Grove are already prepared to provide flu immunization shots. On Wednesday, Oct. 24, Verona Township will be offering $20 flu shots from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Verona Community Center. “Flu vaccine supplies are plentiful this year, offered through the Montclair Health Department,” the township said in a written statement. “A higher-dose option is available for people 65 years and older.” According to the township, it takes about two weeks after vaccination for your body to develop protection against the flu. The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, located at 792 Pompton Ave. in Cedar Grove, is offering flu shots for $20 each. "October is our busiest month for flu shots…
