Celebrate Easter in Verona and Cedar Grove

Easter Egg hunts, children's workshop and sunrise services will be held this weekend in Verona and Cedar Grove.

This year's Easter events will kick off on Good Friday, March 29, at the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, located at 10 Fairview Avenue. A Good Friday Children's Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, featuring fun Easter activities for the whole family. Preschool through grade 5 children are invited to enjoy crafts, baking, music, God-time and the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The cost to participate, including lunch, is $7 per child. To register call the First Presbyterian Church of Verona at 973-239-3561. The Easter fun continues with the Cedar Grove UNICO annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m to 12 noon. Verona Church Hosts Animal Blessing Ceremony

  Sunday was one of the hottest days of the summer, but that didn’t stop pet owners from attending the annual Blessing of the Animals at the First Presbyterian Church of Verona on Fairview Avenue.  About 20 pets with tails and tongues wagging, sat patiently on the church front lawn waiting for the service to begin. Some pets eyed the complimentary bowl of water to beat the heat, while others were more social, greeting each other with a friendly bark or sniff.  Pastor Erik Spencer began by welcoming everyone saying, “This service is active and sometimes a little out of control,” he said, smiling. “Feel free to socialize and move around with your pet.” Spencer began by reading Psalm 8, which describes the talents of God and the gifts he has …

Last Chance: Get Your Dad's Car Washed for Father's Day and Help Fix a Steeple

Drive to the First Presbyterian Parking Lot on Saturday morning and your car washed. Have your husbands/dads car washed for Father's Day!     All proceeds go the the Steeple Fund. The car wash will run from 10 a.m. until noon and cost $5 for cars and $10 for a van.  The First Presbyterian Church is located at 10 Fairview Ave. at the corner of Bloomfield and Fairview avenues.
