Police: Fairview Avenue Closed Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m.
A section between Verona and Cedar Grove will remain closed for the Essex County deer hunt.
Verona Police are reminding residents that Fairview Avenue between Durrell Street in Verona and Myrtle Avenue in Cedar Grove will be closed Thursday between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. because of the Essex County deer hunt. The early morning deer hunt was cancelled because of the weather, said Verona Police Capt. Mitchell Stern. Police are advising residents to plan alternatives routes. The sixth year of Essex County's deer management program began on Jan. 22 but has been scaled back from previous years. The deer hunt will also take place on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and Thursday, Feb. 7 from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., said Stern.
