Incumbents, Newcomers Announce Council Candidacy

Three council seats are open in both Verona and Cedar Grove for the May 2013 election.

Both Verona and Cedar Grove will have new challengers for the May township council elections after two residents filed applications to run for council seats. On Monday, March 4, Stacy Kilkenny, a High Point resident, who has been very vocal at council meetings, submitted her application and petition for the Cedar Grove election. Three seats are open in Cedar Grove with Councilmen Joseph Chiusolo, John Zunic and E. Romeo Longo up for re-election. Both Chiusolo and Zunic handed in their applications for the ballot, said Martina Meding of the Cedar Grove Township Clerk's Office. Three Cedar Grove Council Seats Open For May Election

Petitions to run for Township Council must be in by March 11, 2013.

Three Council seats will be open for the Cedar Grove election to be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Councilmen Joseph Chiusolo, John Zunic and E. Romeo Longo are up for re-election. Chiusolo told Patch during a phone interview that he will be seeking re-election. He is currently in his 4th term on the council. "I enjoy serving and I think that our council treats the township monies the same way we do in our personal lives," he said. "In my case, running a business and a family is the same way I treat the people's money." "It's imperative that we have a business-minded council that we have had in the past," he added.
