Residents of both towns utilize cooling stations and town pools to escape the heat.
Residents of both Verona and Cedar Grove may be feeling the heat, but they’ve also been beating the heat by making use of cooling areas throughout the towns. Peter Havel has been the director of the Cedar Grove Public Library for the last 15 months and, even though he lives in North Haledon, his grandmother, Linda Havel, is still a Cedar Grove resident, so he has many memories in town. Havel left the Englewood Public Library Jan. 2011. Patch spoke with him about what he wants to bring to the Cedar Grove community: What aspects do you find appealing about your job? “I like, pretty much, offering, what I think is the best deal in town,” Havel said confidently. “I like providing things to the public for free like books, music, movies, video games and a public space. Dr. Cristina Guarneri held book signing for novel, 'See No Evil,' on March 5.
The Cedar Grove library recently hosted Verona resident Dr. Cristina Guarneri, where the author showed the never-before-seen commercial for her first novel, See No Evil, before her book signing. “Every writer or artist has a muse and I was inspired by him,” Guarneri said about her political novel, based on an actual political aide who was the ex-chief of staff and regional campaign manager for Arizona Sen.
