Easter Egg hunts, children's workshop and sunrise services will be held this weekend in Verona and Cedar Grove.
This year's Easter events will kick off on Good Friday, March 29, at the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, located at 10 Fairview Avenue. A Good Friday Children's Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, featuring fun Easter activities for the whole family. Preschool through grade 5 children are invited to enjoy crafts, baking, music, God-time and the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The cost to participate, including lunch, is $7 per child. Cedar Grove UNICO will watch the Seton Hall Pirates face off against the UConn Huskies Sunday night for its annual Basketball Outing fundraiser.
Cedar Grove UNICO will be hosting its annual Basketball Outing fundraiser on Sunday. “This annual event will be to enjoy a wonderful day of College Basketball between the Seton Hall Pirates and the Uconn Huskies,” UNICO members said. UNICO is selling tickets to the game for $30 with proceeds going toward local scholarships and relief efforts. “As an added feature kids who attend will take part in a greeting line as the Pirates take the court,” said Cedar Grove UNICO President Sal Ingallina. Township residents donated 636 Turkeys, which were delivered to St. Lucy's parish on Nov. 20.
Cedar Grove UNICO concluded its annual Turkey Drive on Tuesday Nov. 20 by delivering the donated items to St. Lucy's parish in Newark. The organization collected 636 turkeys and an assortment of non-perishable food items. “The food was distributed to families in need throughout Newark and surrounding communities,” Cedar Grove UNICO said in a written statement. The Cedar Grove UNICO Turkey Drive is an annual event that has continued for more than 21 years, the group said. “In these tough times, Cedar Grove UNICO strives to continuously give back to the community through its many charitable events,” the organization said.

UNICO will be collecting turkeys and non-perishable food items at St. Catherine of Siena School during regular school hours. “In these tough times, Cedar Grove UNICO strives to continuously give back to the community through its many charitable events,” the organization said. Dear Residents of Cedar Grove, During the weekend of September 28-30 our Chapter of UNICO National held our second Italian Festa. This year's Festa provided our community the opportunity to give back and enjoy some great times, great food and lots of laughs. The funds raised this year will be directed to a number of national causes like the Jimmy V Fund and St Jude's Cancer Research Hospital for Children but also to local endeavors like our volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad and scholarships. Additionally the non-perishable food that was collected was donated to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair. Cedar Grove UNICO will kick-off their second annual La Festa Italia celebration on Friday at Leonard R. Parks School. The La Festa charity event will be held at the school beginning Friday, Sept. 28 from 6-10 p.m. and continue Saturday, Sept. 29 from 1-6 p.m. before concluding Sunday, Sept. 30 from 1-8 p.m. The celebration will raise money for local charities and scholarships. Cedar Grove band Trick Trenza will headline the event. One thing new they are offering this year is free face painting to children with the donation of a canned-good or other non-perishable item. Five questions with Sal Ingallina, who was recently named the charitable group's president after 19-year membership.
After nearly 19 years with the organization, Sal Ingallina was recently named the president of Cedar Grove UNICO. UNICO, a national organization comprised of 6,000 Italian-Americans, engages the public in charitable works, supports higher education and performs patriotic deeds. The Cedar Grove chapter has provided scholarships to local schools and made donations to the Cedar Grove Fire Dept, Cedar Grove Rescue Squad, Human Needs Food Pantry, Jimmy V Foundation, Pediatric Cancer Research, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and many others. Cedar Grove UNICO will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday, April 7 at Community Park. The event, from 10 a.m.–12 p.m., will take place rain or shine. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the hunt will begin around 10:20 a.m. There will be three age categories — with an Easter Basket for the winner of each age group. The age groups are split as follows: 0-2 years old; 3-5 years old and 6-8 years old. In addition, there will be a jar to guess the number of jelly beans and the winner gets an Easter Basket full of treats. Special guest The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance.
