Project Graduation Raffle Offers Chance to Win Flat Screen TV

Support the Cedar Grove High School Class of 2013 and get a chance to win some great Super Bowl prizes.

The Association of Parents and Teachers of Cedar Grove High School are dishing out some excellent Super Bowl-themed prizes this month to raise money for the Cedar Grove High School Class of 2013. Proceeds from the fund-raising raffle will go toward project graduation for Cedar Grove High School's graduating seniors. “The raffle prize will be a 50-inch flat screen television and a Foodtown-donated and catered Super Bowl party package of food which will serve 8-10 people,” said Barbara Silber, Publicity Coordinator for the Association. Tickets on Sale for Cedar Grove's Beauty and the Beast

In addition to Beauty and the Beast performances, the cast will hold special events for senior citizens and youngsters.

Cedar Grove High School will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in February featuring some of the school's most talented performers. Tickets are now on sale for each of the three performances to be held Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The role of the Beast will be played by Senior Alex Campbell while Belle will be portrayed by Senior Courtney Buckworth. The performance will cost $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens and is held in the Cedar Grove High School Auditorium, located at 90 Rugby Road. Cedar Grove Winter Concert Begins at 7 p.m.

A bake sale and gold and silver-buying fundraiser will be held prior to the concert.

Cedar Grove High School will kick-off its annual Winter Concert tonight at 7 p.m. This year's theme is “Wherever You Are,” featuring performances from the concert band, concert orchestra, concert choir and select choir. “This year's program will include selections ranging from early Renaissance music to contemporary ballads, and will end with a combined group performance of 'A Classic Christmas,'” said Barbara Silber, Parent Publicity Volunteer for Cedar Grove High School Music Matters. Cedar Grove High School Students Selected For Caldwell College Performance

Five students from Cedar Grove High School will perform in the “Christmas Spectacular” on Dec. 7 at Caldwell College.

Five band students from Cedar Grove High School will be performing in the Caldwell College Honor Band and Choir Holiday Concert this year, a prestigious honor for high school students. The students selected are senior Alex Campbell, French horn; senior Will Reinhardt, flute; senior Johnny Frabrazzo, trumpet; sophomore Jennie Silber and freshman Peter Candia each on alto saxophone. The “Christmas Spectacular” will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7 in the Caldwell College Student Center Auditorium. The college is located at 9 Ryerson Avenue in Caldwell, just off of Bloomfield Ave. The students were nominated by Cedar Grove High School Music Teacher Jennifer Jessen-Foose. Proceeds were donated to the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The Cedar Grove High School Music Department held a Benefit Concert on Saturday, Nov. 17 to raise money for families affected by Hurricane Sandy. The performance featured solos, duets, bands and the Cedar Grove High School Select and Concert Choir. Donations were collected at the door with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Cedar Grove High School Holds Benefit Concert Saturday

Proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The Cedar Grove High School Music Department will hold a Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concert on Saturday, Nov. 17. The performance will feature solos, duets, bands and the Cedar Grove High School Select and Concert Choir. The concert runs from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Cedar Grove High School auditorium, located at 90 Rugby Road. A suggested $5 donation for students and $7 donation for adults will be collected at the door. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

  Verona students go back to school on Thursday, Sept. 6. Cedar Grove students return the following Monday, Sept. 10. Here are a few dates to keep in mind for both districts as you plan the next few months. If you have anything to add, please let us know in the comments section below or email jack.durschlag@patch.com. The Verona school district is closed on Monday, Sept. 17 and on Wednesday, Sept. 26. Students have half-days for teacher professional development on Monday, Oct. 8 and Wednesday, Oct. 31. In November, schools are closed on Nov. 6, 8, and 9, and for Thanksgiving on Nov. 22 and 23. Local High Schools Ranked by Magazine

New Jersey Monthly biannual report reveals Cedar Grove improved 29 places, Verona fell 17 slots in 2012 survey.

  Cedar Grove school officials are elated with a magazine’s report showing the district advanced 29 places in a poll of the state’s top high schools. However, officials in Verona are questioning that district falling 17 places in the poll. Both schools are cautioning the rankings are being taken “with a grain of salt.” New Jersey Monthly’s recently released biannual 2012 ranking of 328 Top NJ High Schools shows Cedar Grove schools advancing from a 2010 ranking of 103 to a 2012 ranking of 74 while Verona fell from number 53 on the 2010 list to number 70 this year.
