West Caldwell Man Arrested on Fraud Charges in Cedar Grove

Michael J. Aguilar, 44, apprehended on Tuesday, April 16, after a month-long investigation by Cedar Grove detectives.

Cedar Grove detectives arrested a Caldwell man on fraud charges after a month-long investigation, officials said. Michael J. Aguilar, 44, of Caldwell, was arrested on Tuesday, April 16 in Cedar Grove after a March 22 incident in which a West Caldwell man told police that Aguilar had allegedly stolen his credit card and used it at two CVS Pharmacies in Cedar Grove, police said. One CVS Pharmacy is located at 1041 Pompton Ave. and the other CVS Pharmacy is located at 387 Pompton Ave. Aguilar is an acquaintance of the West Caldwell man’s daughter, officials said. “The cards were used around the time of the reported theft,” police said. Minivan Owner Allegedly Makes Up Carjacking

Stolen Honda Odyssey leads police on a high speed chase through Verona; owner allegedly lied to police about being carjacked in order to get them to the scene faster.

Verona Police scrambled to clear roads as a stolen Honda led police on a high-speed pursuit through several towns on Tuesday March 5, while a Paterson man allegedly lied about a carjacking in order to get a quicker response time from police. Police say Terrence Byrd claimed a car thief brandished a handgun and took his 2013 Honda Odyssey from the A Plus Sunoco station at the intersection of Passaic Avenue and Greenbrook Road on March 5 at approximately 11 p.m. A police investigation revealed Byrd fabricated the part about the gun in order to get officers to the scene quicker, which it did, according to police. This summer we were going to venture out on a 25-city, four-week tour of Europe, but we just felt like the whole spending-money-like-a-rap-star thing was really played out.  OK, so the 2012 summer budget really only allowed for sitting in front of the A/C eating a pint of ice cream.  Turns out we are in the minority, because AAA travel club reports that the number of Americans traveling has been on a slow and steady increase for the last two years.
