Jets running back Mike Goodson was sent to a Morris County jail following his arrest on drug and weapons charges in Denville Friday. Goodson, 25, was the passenger in a GMC Yukon stopped in the left center lane of I-80 West when a tow truck came upon them and called 911 early Friday morning, according to multiple reports. The tow truck driver reportedly was concerned about the intoxicated condition in which he found Goodson and the driver of the Yukon. The Cedar Grove Boys and Girls Varsity Track Team competed in the sectional championship in Newark on Saturday, May 11. David Njoku of Cedar Grove broke the Essex County record in the triple jump when he soared 47-8 in the Colonial Division, according to the Star-Ledger. "I think it was speed and my second phase that was really important today," Njoku told the newspaper. "I just ran as fast as I could and jumped as far as I could and was able to get the record."

Cedar Grove Panthers will play the Verona Hillbillies in a rivalry game to raise money for the teams. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at Yogi Berra Stadium at Montclair State University. Yogi Berra stadium is located at One Hall Drive in Little Falls. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. Admission is free to children wearing a youth baseball or softball jersey.

Verona High School graduate, who spent time with both Jets and Giants, inks two-year pact with AFC West team.
Verona High School graduate Dan DePalma has signed with the NFL’s San Diego Chargers, according to published report. The 23-year-old 5-foot, 11-inch wide receiver, has previously seen practice squad and pre-season action with both the Jets and Giants, signed a two-year deal with the team, according to a NorthJersey.com report. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. DePalma, a 2007 graduate who attended West Chester University in Pennsylvania, will compete for a spot on the 53-man roster for playing time, the report said. He joins fellow Hillbilly Anthony Fasano, who recently signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a free agent after playing tight end with the Miami Dolphins, in the AFC West division.
