Daniel Drench of Verona, Architect of Local Jewish Federation, Dies

Jewish philanthropist was responsible for merger leading to establishment of United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ.

Daniel Drench of Verona, a past president of United Jewish Federation of Morris-Sussex and an architect of the merger between the group and the Jewish Community Federation of Metropolitan New Jersey, a pre-cursor to United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ, died April 5, a published report said Tuesday. Drench, 91, was a businessman who displayed his love of Israel through his wide array of philanthropic activities including serving as leader of the Jewish Community Foundation of MetroWest, JCC MetroWest and the Jewish Historical Society of which he was a founding member, according to a NJJewishnews.com report. He was 65. Koenig died suddenly while playing tennis, a sport that he loved, at the Bradford Bath and Tennis Club in Cedar Grove. Koenig was a partner in the law firm of Stickel, Koenig & Sullivan in Cedar Grove, where he lived. Lorraine E. (nee Ciser) Chiusolo, 82, of Jersey City, the mother of Cedar Grove councilman Joseph Chiusolo, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012.  Mrs. Chiusolo was born in Jersey City in 1930 to the late Harry and Anna Ciser and was a lifelong resident of the city.  She was a proud homemaker, devoted to her children and the Catholic faith.  Mrs. Chiusolo was the husband of Capt. John L. Chiusolo of the Jersey City Fire Department, who predeceased her in 1986. A woman who died after being hit by a car after she crossed Bloomfield Avenue in Verona Tuesday night has been identified as a Newark school teacher named Marie Trusits. On Thursday, friends and family remembered her as a creative and lively person who loved to make students and friends laugh. Trustis, 54, a teacher at St. Michael's School in Newark until 2008, was walking across Bloomfield Avenue around 8:52 p.m. when she was struck by an Acura sedan traveling westbound on the street, Verona Police Capt. Mitchell Stern said Thursday. I knew Marie since high school. i am also an educator and know how challenging urban education can be, even in a private school. Not to be picky, but some of the comments from some of the staff came off as backhanded compliments. Marie was a smart, clever girl. Mane Place II Owner Sergio Sanzari Dies

North Caldwell resident managed Verona business for 25 years before Sunday death.

Sergio Sanzari, the owner of The Mane Place II Salon in Verona for the last 25 years, died on Sunday, July 15 at age 47. Friends and family described Sanzari as always having a real connection with his customers. He enjoyed chatting while cutting hair and especially enjoyed making people laugh. Born in Newark, he was raised in Bloomfield. Sanzari was a 1982 graduate of Bloomfield High School. He was later a graduate of the Capri Institute. He was a North Caldwell resident for the past 14 years.
