School Board Reorg Meetings, Fourth and Fifth Grade Spelling Bees

The Verona and Cedar Grove town councils will hold their first meetings of the year on Monday, at 7 p.m.

The Verona Board of Education will convene on Tuesday, at 8 p.m., in the Media Center at Verona High School for the 2014 Reorganization Meeting. Michael Unis will be sworn-in for a second three-year term. James Day will take the oath for his first term.

The Cedar Grove Board of Education will hold the 2014 Reorganization Meeting on Tuesday, at 8 p.m., at the North End School Media Center. Board members Pamela Burke and Joseph Cicala were unchallenged in their bids for re-election.

Temple Sholom of West Essex will hold its monthly Shred It event on Wednesday, starting at 9 a.m. Shred confidential documents for $10 a box.

Registration is underway for Verona Recreation Winter Programs, including indoor soccer and an indoor ropes course. Don't put if off, a late fee applies after Jan. 17. Read more.

The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona and the GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Cedar Grove will hold their annual Spelling Bees for fourth and fifth grade students on Saturday.
