Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad Celebrates 75th Anniversary

The squad was founded in 1938 when a resident of Cedar Grove needed immediate assistance and the closest rescue squad was located in Verona.

The Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad celebrated 75 years of volunteer service on Saturday with music, food and activities for kids.

The celebration was held at the squad building on Pompton Avenue and attended by numerous squad members past and present. Everyone had a chance to tour the building and check out the rescue vehicles.

The squad was founded in 1938 when a resident of Cedar Grove needed immediate assistance and the closest rescue squad was located in Verona. Today, the squad consists of more than 60 active members and responds to some 1,600 calls per year.

Their next event will be a Fish & Chips dinner on Friday, June 7.
