Verona Recreation: Winter Registration

Verona Recreation is pleased to announce its 2014 Winter program lineup. The Recreation Department is offering children plenty of options to stay busy this winter with about 15 different programs in addition to its very popular basketball program. There is something available for every age group. Selected winter favorites include programs like:

Indoor Soccer: Two indoor soccer classes will be provided this winter. Professionals from the United Soccer Academy will staff these two programs so that young children can keep up with their soccer skills, or learn new ones, through the long cold winter months. We have timed it so that working parents will have the opportunity to come and see their kids play and learn. Both programs run for 6 weeks at a cost of $60 and are held on Monday evenings in the Verona Community Center Gym. The first, Soccer Squirts is for Pre-K children ages 3-5 and meets from 5- 5:45pm. Kinderkickers is for children in Kindergarten and meets from 6- 6:45pm. Both are limited to the first 20 children.

Indoor Ropes Course:  The Recreation Department is very excited to continue its indoor high ropes course in the Verona Community Center Gym through the winter months. This introductory course will provide children the opportunity to explore low ropes and high ropes course elements. This program uses adventure elements to help teach team building and effective communication by working together in a group atmosphere. It also gives participants a chance to step outside of their comfort zone and push themselves mentally and physically in a controlled environment all while having fun. This is a 6 week program for students in 4th - 6th grade and costs $30. This class runs on Monday afternoons from 3:15-4:30pm. No previous climbing experience is necessary.

Athletes in Training: Each week a new ball game! Athletes in Training is a great opportunity to introduce young children to a wide range of sports and games. Each week a different sport will be the focus. Drills and games are used to teach young athletes the basic skills of soccer, football, basketball, hockey, baseball and much more. Experience sports in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Athletes of all levels are welcomed. Athletes in Training is for children ages 4-6. This is a 6 week program held in the Verona Community Center Gym on Mondays afternoons from 1:30-2:30pm. The cost of this program is $75.

Kinetic Kidz:  This is a new and exciting class being taught by veteran instructor Dawn Lau. Kinetic Kidz is a skill development class for boys and girls with a caregiver. This class teaches flexibility, balance, strength, rhythm and agility. Your child will develop a keener sense of body awareness and coordinated movement with the help of their caregiver. This class is designed to build motor skill development in a fun filled environment with movement, music, and games with the use of props. Parent/Caregiver will be expected to participate and act as role model. This class is for children ages 2-5 and a caregiver. This 6 week class is held in the Verona Community Center Gym on Fridays from 11-11:45am at a cost of $70.
