In just a few more weeks.......

In just a few more weeks another school year will be underway. The rising senior from the summer will now officially be a real, live senior. Finally, you will be at the upper end of upperclassman status; finally! Just remember that with senior status comes the senior concern: where will I be this time next year?
That one thought can be the cause of many an anxious night of tossing and turning; of snapping at one's parents, of daydreaming about the endless possibilities. Take heart young senior, there are ways of taming the beast known as The College Search and Application Process.
The first thing to do is to decide if you even want to go to college. Talk with your parents and your guidance counselor and ask the honest question of: what can a college degree do for me. There are many things a college degree can do for a person but, that's another blog. For now, simply have the discussion. The adults around you know the pros and cons of following the college path and the alternatives that lie before you. Whichever route you take it is essential to keep in mind that a happy life consists of many aspects but one of the most important  is how you will secure your financial future. You will spend many long hours moving through each day earning "a living" so it makes sense that a person spends that time in a position which they enjoy. It is the rare person that can find an employment position which they enjoy
"right off the bat" but it is something worth working toward; something that gives a person reason to rise and shine each day. Of course with every job comes with those days, those moments when we question if we made the right choice or if we can stand working for our boss one more day but everyone encounters those thoughts and feelings from time to time. No job is perfect everyday but still, it is an admirable goal, to seek work one enjoys. So, now is the time to have that discussion. To college or not to college; that is the question.
Stay tuned for our next installment addressing the PROS of attending college.
