New Program on VeronaTV- "Featured Artists"

New VeronaTV Program! Check out VTV's "Featured Artists". Please visit www.VeronaNJ.org for the VTV schedule.

VTV will be airing a new Featured Artists segment, which seeks to profile the talented artists of Verona High School and give them a unique forum to present their work.  The program will display the works of students currently taking art classes with Terry Sherman, the art teacher at Verona High School.  Two students have been chosen for an interview to gain a more in depth look into what inspires them as artists.  This also gives them the opportunity to personally present their work to a public audience.   This will be an ongoing series with different featured students throughout the year. You can watch this segment on VTV (Comcast channel 35 and FIOS channel 24) every day at 3:45pm and 11:00pm. Please visit www.VeronaNJ.org for the VTV schedule.

The first installment of the series follows students through the self-portrait process.  The goal was to have students be able to look at a three-dimensional object, which was their own face in this case, and translate that into a two-dimensional drawing on paper that communicates the expressive essence of their personality.   After the students were shown different drawing techniques they began their practice by focusing on the individual features of the face and the head.  Once a solid understanding was reached, they were asked to create their own self-portrait.  The following shows the process the students followed in order to achieve the final goal which encompasses a variety of media and techniques. Two students, Fernando Padilla and Katie Kast, exemplified an extraordinary understanding of the project’s objectives and goals and will be this installment’s Featured Artists.  Interviews with Katie and Fernando can be seen in addition to a slideshow of other VHS students’ work.  Included will be a closer look at the artists, their completed work, and a view of their current projects.
