Verona, Cedar Grove Volleyball Coaches Team Up to Fight Breast Cancer

Volleyball match will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27, at West Orange High School.

Volleyball coaches from Verona and Cedar Grove high schools and around Essex County are teaming up to raise awareness about breast cancer. 

Girls volleyball coaches from the Super Essex Conference will play against one another in a fundraiser to find a cure for breast cancer. 

The Volleyball Match to Raise Awareness of Breast Cancer will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27, at West Orange High School, at 51 Conforti Ave. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and the match will start at 2 p.m.

The SEC is in its fifth year and includes most of the high schools, both public and private, in Essex County.

The day will include the following matches: coaches vs. coaches; a men's match; women's match; and a reverse co-ed match. In between matches, there will be a serving contest with chances to win shirts and other volleyball merchandise.

The event is spearheaded by Michael H. Karu, head coach for the girls’ volleyball team at Golda Och Academy in West Orange.
