Local Girls Get Their Games On at Mount St. Dominic

Verona and Cedar Grove athletes participate in youth softball and basketball camps.

The Mount Saint Dominic Academy has been hosting Lady Lions Summer Camp since 2000. Young ladies entering grades 4 through 9 can sign up for Volleyball, Softball, Basketball and Soccer camps, each lasting five days.

This year, 22 young Cedar Grove and Verona softballers made up the largest local contingent at the prestigious Lady Lions Softball Camp earlier in July. Cedar Grove head Coach Rob Stern and Mount Saint Dominic Academy head coach Lorenzo Sozio were the instructors at the camp.

More than two-dozen youngsters from Verona and Cedar Grove attended the Lady Lions Basketball Camp last week. Ed Furman, an assistant coach at Stevens Institute of Technology and Verona graduate, was the director of the basketball camp.
