Scroll Down List of Verona's 1,000 Point Club
Hillbilly Alex Kaslander joined elite group this week.
Earlier this week, senior Alex Kaslander became only the 17th player in the history of Verona High School's basketball programs to surpass 1,000 career points.
Kaslander achieved the grand goal on Jan. 14, when Verona defeated North 13th Street Tech, 65-51, with fans in the bleachers holding giant Alex heads.
Hillbilly William “Bucky” Hatchett was the first to reach the milestone in 1945, and nearly 70 years later only 10 other boys and 6 girls have joined the elite club, according to Verona Director of Athletics Gary Farishian.
Kaslander's name will be added to those on the banners hanging in the high school gym to be remembered for generations to come.
