Verona, Cedar Grove High Schools Perform Better Than State Average

Inside Jersey report grades state's high schools.

Verona High School scored an "A" in a report released Monday by Inside Jersey, while Cedar Grove High School scored a "B", placing it among the schools in the state showing the most improvement.

Inside Jersey looked at the New Jersey Department of Education's High School Proficiency Assessment results for language arts and math tests.

The annual assessment was done differently this year, according to the publication. Rather than rating schools based on a single year's scores, results were compared over a four-year period.

SAT scores were also weighted to come up with the grades.

Schools which received As and Bs had higher than average test scores.

Nearby schools scoring an "A", include Glen Ridge, West Essex and Caldwell.
