Verona Elementary Spelling Bee on Saturday

Verona fourth and fifth graders will compete in the annual event hosted by the Verona Juniors.

Expert fourth and fifth grade spellers will face off in Verona on Saturday for the annual Spelling Bee competition sponsored by the Junior Women's Club of Verona.

Seventy-four students from Brookdale Avenue School, F.N. Brown School, Forest Avenue Elementary School, Laning Avenue School and Our Lady of the Lake School will be participating.

The competition begins at 9 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 at Verona High School, 151 Fairview Ave.

Judges will include Verona Deputy Mayor Bob Manley, Senior Librarian Bill Trafton, and Forest Ave. Principal Jeffrey Monacelli, who has participated as a Spelling Bee judge for the past five years.
