Unis, Day Win Verona School Board Seats

Unofficial results show incumbent and challenger with healthy leads.

Verona voters chose an incumbent and a challenger to fill two vacant seats on the school board, according to unofficial results.

With 10 out of 11 districts reporting, the Essex County Clerk's Office shows newcomer James Day as the biggest vote getter Tuesday. Day has 1,437 votes or 31.20% of the vote with 90.91% of votes reported.

School board member Michael Unis is likely to serve a second term following Day with 1,289 votes, or 27.99% of the vote.

In third and fourth place are current Board of Education member Glenn Elliott with 976 votes or 21.19% of the vote, and Judith DiNapoli with 886 votes, or 19.24% of the vote.

Verona Board of Education members serve three-year terms.
