'Shrek the Musical' Comes to Cedar Grove High School

A special breakfast will also be held later this month in conjunction with the performance.

"Shrek the Musical" will be presented by the Cedar Grove High School Music Department from Feb. 27 to March 1 in the high school auditorium.

"Shrek the Musical" is the story of the solitary green ogre who is content to live in his ugly green swamp. Suddenly, his sanctuary is raided by a host of homeless fairy-tale characters and a smart-talking donkey. Filled with familiar characters, catchy songs, and plenty of laughs, the musical then follows the adventures of Shrek and Donkey as they set out to rescue Princess Fiona, held captive in a castle.

Performance dates and times are: Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. and Saturday March 1 at 2 and 7 p.m.. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Ticket forms are available on the district's website. Advance purchases are recommended since only a limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

In conjunction with the production of the musical, the school will offer a "Shrek the Musical" Character Breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 22 that is open to the public.

The breakfast will offer two seatings from 8:30 to 9:50 a.m., and the second from 10:30 to 11:50 a.m.. The breakfast includes unlimited pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee, one 5x7 photo of each child with the characters and a free gift for each child.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7 for students; children under 3 are free. Personal photographs are allowed, and all attendees are encouraged to wear green. Tickets may be purchased at the CGHS Office on the following Fridays: Feb. 7 and 14 from 2 to 4 p.m., and in the CGHS Auditorium Lobby on the following Saturdays: Feb. 8 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
