Verona Schools Referendum May Need State's Help
BOE looks to Trenton for ways to cut the cost of a school rehabilitation referendum.
Verona Public Schools may go to the state for assistance in coming up with funding for an estimated $9.1 million voter referendum to rehabilitate Verona High School athletic fields and school technology, security and buildings, MyVeronaNJ.com reported.
The deadline for applying for a ROD grant is Sept. 4. Holding up the application at present is that the school board has yet to receive an engineering estimate from Cedar Knolls-based contractor EI Associates. Superintendent Steven A. Forte is expected to meet with the company next week. The report said the BOE hopes to have a referendum outline by Aug. 10 and a decision on a funding plan by its Aug. 27 meeting.
