Our Lady of the Lake School in Verona raised $291 for the Minette Grosso McKenna Angel Foundation (Minette’s Angels), a local charitable foundation that provides comfort and support to women and their families who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
Students each paid $1 or more to be able to wear anything pink of their choice instead of their school uniforms.
Eighth-grade students Jack Waldron and Michael Mughetto presented the day’s collection to third grade teacher Beth Grimes, who accepted the contribution on behalf of the Foundation.
“Minette’s Angels provides home cooked meals, gift cards to grocery stores and local restaurants, and cleaning services for the families of local women undergoing treatment for breast cancer,” Our Lady of the Lake School said in a written statement.
“The Foundation tries to ease the stress that breast cancer can cause within families depending on the needs of each individual family,” they added.
Minette’s Angels also offers scholarship to local students entering the medical field.
