Verona Park Boat House Gets New Vendor

The Verona Park boat house will reopen soon with a new vendor.

Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services was awarded a contract to run the food concessions and boat house in the county park by the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders on June 19.

Construction was underway at the venue which overlooks the lake Monday. A sign was also hung on the playground fence announcing "The Boat House Burger Shack" coming soon. Burgers, shakes and ice cream will be on the menu.

Aramark was the highest bidder, according to the board of freeholders, which has entered into a three-year agreement with the Philadelphia-based food services company.

The county is expected to collect $96,466.50 in revenue from the deal.

The boat house was renovated in 2012 as part of $1 million in upgrades at the park.
