Cedar Grove Purchased Generators, Amends Parking Ordinance

Cedar Grove's 2013 budget hearing is scheduled for Monday, January 28 and Tuesday January 29, officials announced.

The Cedar Grove Township Council met for its first public meeting of 2013 after a long holiday recess to discuss several items for the new year.

To better prepare for emergencies, the council purchased four new back-up generators for municipal buildings. The generators will be installed at Cedar Grove Town Hall, North End Firehouse, South End Firehouse and the Cedar Grove Public Library.

The generators cost the town $165,000 for engineering design and acquisition, said Township Manager Tom Tucci.

“We need to have places for people to go with heat and electricity that's within walking distance of people's homes,” said Deputy Mayor Robert O'Toole.

The Council also passed an ordinance amending parking limits on Union Street in the township. The amended ordinance limits parking from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to a two hour limit for 200 feet West of ridge Road, Said O'Toole.

“Cars are parking too close to the corner,” said Tucci. “The ordinance is in the interest of public safety, a lot of children cross at the corner.”

Tucci also announced that the 2013 budget hearing is scheduled for Monday, January 28 at 6 p.m., Tuesday, January 29 at 6 p.m. and, if necessary, Wednesday, January 30 at 6 p.m.
