During the Dec. 3 meeting, the Cedar Grove Township Council recognized state Sen. Kevin O'Toole for his service to the town in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
O'Toole provided “extraordinary service” to the township after Hurricane Sandy, said Mayor Peter Tanella, citing his work in acquiring gasoline for the township and working with PSE&G to get the town up and running.
“Cedar Grove is so well taken care of and well prepared because of (Township Manager)Tom Tucci and the Mayor (Peter Tanella,)” said O'Toole.
O'Toole said he had conversations three to four times a day with the township officials in the aftermath of the storm.
“In those eleven days without power Mayor Tanella never said 'what about my house?'”
Tanella was one of many residents who were without power for 11 days.
The council also received an update to the township’s ongoing Streetscape project.
Construction is about 75 percent finished, the brick pavers are almost done being installed and the new town clock will be delivered within the next two weeks, said Tucci.
The project should be finished by the end of December, he said.
