West Orange Council President Charged with DWI in Verona

Council President Victor Cirilo of West Orange was arrested and issued several tickets, police said.

West Orange Council President Victor Cirilo was arrested on drunk driving charges in Verona, police said. 

Police stopped Cirilo just after midnight on Nov. 9 and smelled “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage,” police said.

After a series of field sobriety tests, the Council President was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court appearance.

Cirilo was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and issued several motor vehicle summonses, police said.

The Township of West Orange declined comment, according to Jessica Glicker, a township spokeswoman.
