Veterinarian: Montclair Woman's Dog Wasn't Poisoned in County Park

Four-year-old dog was the victim of a ruptured tumor, according to one local vet.

A Montclair veterinarian said that a dog that died shortly after a trip to an Essex County park was the victim of a ruptured tumor and was not poisoned as had been feared.

Diane Herbst’s 4-year-old terrier Gingee died earlier this month. The dog’s owner suspected that something it ate in the park may have caused its sudden and unexpected death.

An autopsy report from by Montclair veterinarian George Cameron, however, found that Gingee died when a splenic tumor ruptured, according to northjersey.com.

Herbst spoke with various media and Essex County officials, and hung flyers around Mills Reservation following the dog’s death.
