Roseland Man ID'd as Grocery Store Wallet Thief, Police Say

Jason A. Marx, 35, wanted for Cedar Grove theft and a similar incident in West Caldwell, police said.

A Roseland man has been identified as the wallet thief caught on a grocery store's security camera, Cedar Grove Police said.

The police are looking for Jason A. Marx, 35, who was identified after police received a number of calls from people recognizing him as the man in the surveillance video authorities released shortly after the crime was committed at the Cedar Grove Foodtown. The video shows a man removing a wallet from a purse while its owner was distracted while shopping.  

Marx is also a suspect in a similar incident in West Caldwell, police said. 

A warrant for Marx’s arrest was issued and officials said police are currently attempting to locate him.  Anyone with information that might be helpful can reach Cedar Grove Police at 973-239-4100.
