Police: Two Cars Stolen From Lu Nello Italian Restaurant

Vehicles were taken while left idling by restaurant valet service.

Two cars left idling by the valet service at Lu Nello Italian Restaurant in Cedar Grove were stolen around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, Cedar Grove police said.

Cedar Grove police were called to the restaurant, located at 182 Stevens Ave. in Cedar Grove, after reports the cars were taken.

“Witnesses observed a silver BMW enter the parking lot at which time two occupants exited the BMW and entered two 2012 Mercedes-Benz’s that had been left idling by the restaurant’s valet service,” officials said.

The three vehicles left the parking lot traveling east on Stevens Avenue and were later seen on Route 3 in Little Falls and then in Clifton, police reported.

“The vehicles were last observed traveling south on Route 21 towards Newark,” police said. “ The Mercedes were entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer as stolen and the matter was forwarded to the detective bureau for follow-up investigation.”

Cedar Grove Police continue to remind residents to report suspicious activity to the police desk at (973) 239-4100 or 9-1-1, if there is a crime in progress, after two cars were stolen from Cedar Grove driveways on Thursday, Jan. 24.
