Police: Accident Causes Chain Reaction on Pompton Avenue

A car slammed into the back of another car waiting at a traffic light causing a four-car pileup.

A four-car accident was blamed for snarling Pompton Avenue traffic Friday after a chain-reaction accident, police officials said.

Three cars were waiting at the light on Pompton Avenue and Vincent Place at around 12 p.m. on Jan. 25, said Verona Chief of Police Douglas Huber.

One car, traveling north on Pompton Avenue, slammed into the third car in line, which hit the second car, causing it to hit into the first car in line, he said.

There were no major injures reported. Two of the cars had to be towed away, said Huber.

None of the drivers involved were Verona residents, he said.
