Man Acquitted of Manslaughter in 2010 Cedar Grove Crash

Cedar Grove teen ejected from rear window killed in Ridge Road accident.

A 21-year-old West Orange man was acquitted Monday of aggravated manslaughter charges in a crash that killed a Cedar Grove teen who was ejected from his back seat in 2010, NJ.com reported.

A jury in Essex County Superior Court in Newark found Alberto Nunez not guilty after three days of deliberations in the death of 18-year-old Adreana B. Nelson, the report said.

Nunez was driving his 1995 Acura Integra on Ridge Road in Cedar Grove on Sept. 18, 2010 around 1 a.m. when he crashed into a utility pole, hospitalizing all three passengers, prosecutors said.

Nelson was ejected from the back window, suffering severe head and bodily injuries. She died days later on Sept. 24 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson.

Nunez faced 30 years in prison if convicted.
