Fire Officials Find Burning Birds Nest Behind Letter "E"

Cause of Monday morning fire remains under investigation, chief says.

The Verona Fire Department discovered Monday a smoldering birds’ nest tucked behind the letter “E” in Dante on the façade of the Dante Tuxedo Building, fire officials said.

The fire department responded to a report of smoke coming from the Bloomfield Avenue building and found what appeared to be a nest which had caught fire Chief Harvey Goodman said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Goodman said, adding that it could be a number of factors.

Traffic was snarled on the avenue for about 90 minutes while firefighters checked the inside and outside of the retail store to check if the fire had spread.
