Trial of Totowa Man Charged With Cedar Grove Teen's Murder Pending 'Grand Jury Review,' Report Says

Recent Cedar Grove High School graduate died of stabbing wounds, Passaic County Prosecutor said.

The trial of a Totowa man accused of killing a Cedar Grove teen in July is pending review by a grand jury, a report on NorthJersey.com said Thursday.

Jonathan LaFontaine faces first-degree murder charges for the stabbing death of Brian Topoleski, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office. He is being held on $1.5 million bail at Passaic County Jail, the NorthJersey.com report said.

LaFontaine allegedly stabbed 18-year-old Topoleski outside a Little Falls home after a confrontation involving the men and their friends, prosecutors said.

Topoleski graduated from Cedar Grove High School in June and was enrolled in Montclair State University.

The grand jury will determine whether the prosecution has enough evidence to go to trial.
