Cedar Grove Police Make DWI Arrest After Crash

A Rutherford man was arrested for driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

A Rutherford man was arrested on drunk driving and posession charges following a Wednesday, Nov. 28 car crash near a Cedar Grove intersection, police said.

Robert G. Waldron, 51, was arrested after crashing near the intersection of Pompton and Montclair avenues.

According to Cedar Grove Police Chief Richard Vanderstreet, a car was stopped at the light on Pompton Avenue and Montclair Avenue when Waldron allegedly rear ended the first vehicle.

There were no injuries reported in the crash, he said.

Waldron was charged with driving while intoxicated and the illegal possession of the drug Klonopin.

He was taken to police headquarters and released pending a Dec. 6 Superior Court arraignment in Newark.
