Cedar Grove’s Center Fire Company No. 1 went ladle-to-ladle with firehouses from around New Jersey, New York and Connecticut and emerged the winners of CBS Radio New York’s Firehouse Chili Cook-Off Contest Sunday.

"Wilson Magic", the original recipe by Center Fire Company’s Tom Wilson, won by popular vote after the judges score ended in a tie at this weekend’s competition held at Suit 36 in New York City.

In addition to bragging rights, the Center Fire Company received VIP tickets to a 2014 New York Yankees home game.

In December, Center Fire Company won the semi-final round held at Miller’s Ale House in Paramus.

The firehouse donated the $500 prize for the semi-final win to the NG Foundation, in honor of Nick Gualtieri, a lifelong resident of Cedar Grove who was dedicated to local youth sports programs.
