Car Thefts Rise in Verona, Cedar Grove — Overal Crime Index Down
State police release Uniform Crime Report data through September.
Overall crime is down in Verona and Cedar Grove, according to Uniform Crime Report data released by New Jersey State Police this month.
Crime reports compiled from Jan. through Sept. 2013 are shown against figures for the same period in 2012 in the report.
The crime index is down 8.8%, or from 80 to 73, in Cedar Grove. In Verona, the crime index dropped 37.8%, or from 127 to 79, during that period.

Thefts and burglaries in particular are down, while car thefts have risen in both towns.
