The weather is still unpredictable enough this week that we recommend staying inside for your escape of choice. Take a few more weeks to huddle indoors and indulge in one of the greatest escapes ever invented: the movies!
The recently refurbished AMC Dine-In Theatre in West Orange’s Essex Green shopping center offers two types of experiences and both involve movies, food, beverage, and big, comfy, awesome seats. The Cinema Suites is swankier—it’s age 21 & over only and offers ‘premium’ dining. The Fork & Screen allows kids under 18, but they must be accompanied by an adult and the food is more casual. One person we spoke to went with hubby, kids, and her sister; hubby took the kids to the Fork & Screen, and she and her sister went to Cinema Suites. Lots of ways to make this work for you; so be creative!
This is a fun and easy date night or girls' night out, when you want to eat and see a movie, but you don't want to juggle awkward times to fit in both. There’s a full bar to hang out in before and after the movies, as well as call buttons on the seats to order food and beverage—salads, sandwiches, entrees, wine, cocktails, coffee, soda, etc.—from waitresses before and even during the show. Seats are reserved in advance, like at the theater. But be warned: the prices are much higher than ‘regular’ movies, as a portion of the price goes automatically to food and beverage.
