Brush up on Your Italian at the Cedar Grove Library Tonight

Five things you should know today.

1) Tonight at the Cedar Grove Public Library, 1 Municipal Plz., the Center for Italian & Italian American Culture will host Conversazione & Caffe (Conversation & Coffee), an informal conversational group for people with a knowledge or passion for the Italian language. Sessions are free to the public. For information, call the library office at 973-571-1995.

2) Tonight at 7 p.m. at Verona High School, 151 Fairview Ave., author and former Rutgers University Learning Specialist Elizabeth Hamblet will speak to students with an Individualized Education Plan (I.E.P.) or 504 Accommodation Plan and their parents on the subject Getting College Right: Preparing Students with Disabilities for the College World. The lecture is sponsored by C.H.I.L.D., the Verona Public Schools Department of Special Services, and the Verona High School Guidance Department, and is free to attend. 3) Today is the deadline to submit petitions to run for a seat on the Verona or Cedar Grove Township Councils. In Cedar Grove, two 4-year seats and one 2-year seat are coming up for election. In Verona, two 4-year seats will expire, and one two year seat will be open. The nonpartisan election will be held May 10. Interested candidates can drop off their petitions at either township hall by 4 p.m. today.

4) The Stitch-In knitting and stitching club at 6:30 p.m. at the Cedar Grove Library, 1 Municipal Plz. Club meetings are open and free to all.

5) The Cedar Grove Recreation Department is taking clinics (age 4-14). The fee is $70 per child, and class size is limited. For information, call the rec department at 973-239-1410 ex. 220.
