Vigil Planned for Slain Cedar Grove High Grad

Friends, family and members of the community will gather Saturday night at the football field in memory of Brian Topoleski.

A vigil will be held Saturday night for Brian Topoleski at the Cedar Grove High School football field at 7:15 p.m.

Topoleski, 18, who graduated from the high school this year, was fatally stabbed early Monday morning in Little Falls. Jonathan Lafontaine, 20, of Totawa, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to the stabbing. His attorney said it was in self-defense.

Friends and family of Topoleski on Saturday night will release balloons with special letters written to him into the air. Candles will be given to each of those in attendance to be lit in Topoleski's memory.

"We hope to have as many friends, family, and community members here to honor the loving, funny, and amazing guy who has left a remarkable impression on this entire community," said Courtney Buckworth, who is organizing the vigil.

Donations will go directly to the Topoleski family. Bracelets designed in Topoleski's memory will also be sold.
