7th Annual Lemon-Aid Stand to benefit CGARS

When my sister Gabby San Roman was just 11 years old, she read an article in the newspaper about the lack of funding for the Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad.  She took it upon herself to hold a “Lemon-Aid Stand” in front of Foodtown with some of her friends.  Over 6 summers, the event has grown tremendously and she has raised almost $7,000 for this worthy organization.

Since Gabby will be going away to college this year, I will be organizing the 7th annual fundraiser.  I hope to make this year’s “Lemon-Aid Stand” even more successful than the previous years. I have been helping with this event since I was 5 years old, and I am excited to take on the challenge of leading the project!

The Ambulance and Rescue Squad is made up of some of the most commendable volunteers that I know.  Many of the residents in Cedar Grove have recently received a letter in the mail that listed some of the countless reasons that we are asking you to donate to this worthy cause: State Aid for training has recently been cut, their oldest ambulance needs to be replaced as soon as possible, recent increases in the cost of supplies and equipment, just to name a few.  But most importantly, they want to have the best equipment and trained responders available to help us.  Let’s face it – this is an organization that is very deserving of our support, and they help each and every resident of Cedar Grove.  I believe this fundraiser is an excellent way to supplement their own collection efforts.

This year, the “Lemon-Aid Stand” will be on Sunday, August 19th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in front of Foodtown on Pompton Avenue.  Please come and show your support for this worthy cause by getting a cup of freshly-squeezed, ice-cold lemonade!  We will appreciate your much-needed help!

If you would like to make a donation beforehand or have any questions, please contact Grace San Roman at (973) 857 – 3132.  Thank you!
