Donate Your Old Prom Dresses at Essex County College

The non-profit Catherine's Closet will distribute the dresses in time for prom season.

Do you have an old prom dress hanging in your closet taking up space? Then consider donating it to Essex County College and it will go to a needy high school student.

Essex County College’s West Essex campus will once again be an official drop off site for new and lightly worn dresses through Feb. 14. The dresses are being collected by Catherine’s Closet and they will be distributed to needy local high school students wishing to attend their school prom.

Donate dresses to ECC's West Caldwell campus, at 730 Bloomfield Ave., between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Feb. 14.

Catherine’s Closet was formed in 2002 in memory of Catherine Johnson, an East Orange high school student who was struck and killed by a stolen vehicle.

More than 6,000 area girls have benefitted from the organization. The West Essex campus of ECC has been involved with Catherine’s Closet since 2008.
